Choreographer Career Development Initiative (CCDI)

CALL FOR CHOREOGRAPHERS - Deadline August 31, 2023

Dance Canvas welcomes choreographers to apply for our signature program, the 2023-24 Choreographer Career Development Initiative. This season, we are asking choreographers to create work with innovation at the heart of it! What does the future, forward-thinking, innovation mean to you as an artist and through your work?

NEW THIS SEASON, we are offering a limited choreographic residency in partnership with the High Museum, for a choreographer to create and rehearse their work at the High. The High Museum will grant the choreographer space to create in an open "Dance Lab" within the museum. Selected choreographer(s) rehearsal time must fall within the following hours: Tuesday - Friday 10:00am - 5:00pm. This development period will be open to public viewing, so choreographer must be comfortable with an open rehearsal process (*just audience viewing, not interacting.)

All selected Dance Canvas Choreographers will create, incubate, receive feedback and present their choreography to Atlanta Audiences. Our choreographers will also be invited to workshops, roundtable discussions, and seminars to develop their careers and build professional networks. For our 2023-24 season, we continue our partnership with the Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech, with culminating performances at the Ferst Center!

Dance Canvas will select up to 10 choreographers to be part of the Choreographer Career Development Initiative. Selected choreographers will receive:

  • Up to 10-minute submission slot in Performance Series Ferst Center for the Arts; a 1000 seat state-of-the-art theater
