About Us

Dance Canvas, Inc. is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization, incorporated in the City of Atlanta in 2008.

VISION

To diversify the artistic voices being presented in professional dance, grow opportunities for artists in the region, and attract new audiences.

PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS

Since 2008, Dance Canvas has been an integral part of developing artistic opportunities for dancers in metro Atlanta. Through our Choreographer Career Development Initiative (CCDI), we have provided employment and resources for 800+ artists (professional dancers, choreographers, musicians) and have reached over 25,000 in Atlanta audiences.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

Our youth programs invest in the next generation, through an integrated curriculum of dance training & leadership development.

Our DC NEXT program offers dance technique, choreography, and arts administration classes to high school & college students. The program is a springboard for students to learn skills in the business, production & creative aspects of the industry.

Over the past 13 years, we have worked hands-on with 10,000+ Atlanta area students. We have provided youth programs for the City of Atlanta's Centers of Hope through the Department of Recreation. This program provides weekly dance education to 150+ students at Atlanta Recreation Centers. We’ve partnered with the Lion King National Tour, Rockettes & other world-renowned companies to provide master classes & tickets for outreach. We have provided dance curricula for the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation and Usher’s New Look Foundation. We were selected by City of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs to design and administer the dance component of their “Culture Club” after-school program for students, ages 7-12yrs, as well as their ARTSCooL employment program for teens.

MISSION

To provide opportunities and venues to increase the awareness of professional dance in Atlanta through three program areas of service: Choreographer Career Development, Youth Outreach/Leadership, and Community Engagement.
